Mail Shows in Outlook "Sent Item" not reached recipients, but no Submit Event in Mailbox server

We have a user whose Mailbox is in Exchange Server 2007(Stand alone). He is using Outlook 2010, mail delivery configured to PST. He has sent a mail and the mail displays in his Outlook Sent item folder, but the mail has not reached any of the recipients. Also there is not trace of email on the Mailbox server tracking logs.

There was no delivery failure messages

Checked all possible things, have also logged a case with Microsoft. But Microsoft also could not find out. The only answer Microsoft says, if in Cache mode or Mail delivery is to personal folders, the mails are moved to Sent Items by the Outlook and then Synced with the server. But as fare I know this is always done by Store Driver which moves the message from Outbox to Sent Item.

Any suggestions

  • What might have happened to the mail, it has not reached Mailbox server for sure
  • How the mail is show in Sent Items
  • Is there any difference if the Outlook is in Cache mode or Online mode
